QUESTION:

I was reading more of your Q&A's and another question came to mind. What are wolf teeth and do both sexes of horses have them?, and should they be removed?

- P. H.

ANSWER:

The Wolf Teeth -- also known as canines or tush teeth -- are found behind the space where the bit fits. Both genders have them, but on mares they are smaller and sometimes don't even break through the gums.

Sometimes the wolf teeth will interfere with the bit and need to be removed -- a job only your vet should tackle.
