QUESTION:

Will it hurt horses to eat bamboo?

-- T. R.

ANSWER:

Yep, although ruminants like cattle get hit harder than horses, bamboo is toxic to all grazing animals. When the animals eat the bamboo leaves or fruit, it releases cyanide. You'll want to get your vet involved quickly if you suspect bamboo poisoning. The first hour or so is the most critical; if the animal makes it that long it has a good chance of surviving.

I hope this little warning will help keep your critters safe!
